DIY to the Rescue
Application Form

Do you have a do-it-yourself project that turned out to be more than you could handle? Perhaps DIY can come to the rescue! Send us home video of your most ruined renovation and tell us why we should come to your rescue in the application below!

Botched projects may include:

  • interior remodeling
  • renovating closets, garages and basements
  • repairing walls, lighting fixtures, ceilings and floors
  • updating a child's playroom or bedroom
  • turning a bedroom into a home office
  • porch or deck repair
  • replacing windows and doors
  • creating a pet- or child-safe living area
  • retro-fitting a home for handicapped accessibility
  • improving insulation and home security

Homeowners can include families, couples or individuals. In order to be selected, homeowners must have already attempted unsuccessfully to complete the project on their own. At least one of the homeowners must participate fully in the repair during the three days needed to tape the show. There must be clear potential for dramatic visual impact between the "before" and "after" images of the completed project.

If you have a neighbor with a DIY: TO THE RESCUE project of their own who is willing to apply, this will improve both your chances of being selected. You will need to have child day care available for your children and a place to board your pets for three days while we are working on your home. You will be required to help in the project.

To complete this application, please make a video around 5 minutes long about yourself and your DIY dilemmas.  This is your chance to show us who you are, so have fun with it!   Show us the disaster areas, explain what happened and have your family all appear on camera if at all possible.  All materials sent become the property of DIY Network, cannot be returned and portions of the tape may be used in a future program. DVD is the preferred format to send to us but we will also accept mini DV and VHS.
